New Jersey is at a transportation crossroads. By next year, there won’t be a cent left to fix our state’s roads and bridges or improve our public transportation system. Over-reliance on borrowing and Band-Aid solutions mean New Jersey’s main source of transportation funding, the Transportation Trust Fund, will be broke by 2011. By that time, 100 percent of the fund’s revenues will be used for debt payments. There won’t be a cent left to fix our roads and bridges or improve our public transportation system at a time when transit ridership is up, our roads and bridges are ranked among the worst in the nation and pedestrian fatalities remain tragically high.
The Move NJ Forward Campaign is dedicated to addressing this crisis. Comprised of transportation, business, labor, planning and environmental leaders, the Move NJ Forward Campaign seeks to ensure a sustainable reauthorization of the Transportation Trust Fund.
